Today is going to be a difficult day. Well the last several years have been difficult but this time is for the good.This time unlike in a long time I’m fighting back or at least thinking about it. A fight that is long over due. I cant start at the beginning over 23 years ago a 240 lb,17 year old HS Defensive End suddenly diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease ( ESRD ). Instead I’ll begin with this morning.

My phone rings about 7 this morning, on the line is a long time friend of mine. She is going thru accepting the truth of watching a young vibrant young lady stricken with illness come home to die. Her anger with the hospitals, her family for planning the funeral even the young lady herself for picking out her burial garments has her fuming as she drives to work. As we talk she calms down. She ends the call with thanks I knew I could count on you.

Wow me? Some one counting on me seemed a distant rumor. When did it change? When did I Start to believe God would forsaken any of us much more me? When did futility set in to the point I forgot I fell down so there wasn’t any thought of getting up?

This is really hard to pin point, but I did start to realize the fact when reevaluating my “WHY?” in my business.Most of my life my “WHY?” has been simply “That’s What The F@&K I Do”. I can market anything, I at one point had web sites that emailed me every 2 minutes of purchases. Now I cant find a why except “WHY TRY?” I know Search Engine Optimization on my sleep yet I run half campaigns for myself and make half attempts to get clients.

I downloaded an audio call something like I know what to do, How come I’m not Doing It, last year and never listened to it. Has this disease really disabled me? Since when have I put more power in yesterday than faith in myself and tomorrow. I don’t know.

My Business partner Mark told me just last night if you cant find your “why” then go with your passion.Right now I’m friggin pissed( which can be seen as extremely passionate about an issue) that I allowed the devils minions pity, fear and even self loathing to consume my life. Today I say I rebuke you Lucifer.

I don’t know when all this happened but I do know today will be difficult and that’s a good thing.

Our parents used to say practice makes perfect but we just thought practice makes a reason for us to have to do it again and again. I have come to understand that the fundamental problem in that view of practice is the value we put on the thing we are practicing. We must make a practice of doing things that matter. I never thought practicing conjugating verbs would ever benefit me so it was a chore but I find the practice of self-improvement absolutely necessary. As we practice improving ourselves, our community and family those things may never be perfect but will be headed towards perfection. A friend of mine has a birthday today a.d I would like to wish her a very happy happy birthday with many more to come. Why do I mention her on  post about positive thinking? Well last week she had a “bad feeling” about the weekend . She just knew something was going to happen to just ruin her birthday weekend, poor baby. She was right things did fall apart in a hurry from no baby sitter to female he said she said all the way to her friends standing her up. How the heck can you be positive about that? Well last week when she had these premonitions I said so what? If they fall down keep going, if more crap comes your way keep going this is your weekend you are going to come out on top. She took that advice so when the4 baby sitter backed out she already had a back up plan, when the he said she said began she ignored it and refused to indulge. Even when her friends stood her up she went out by herself and ended up having the time of her life. All this she attributes to repeating to herself this is my weekend , It will come out just fine. Now if we can all take that approach to our everyday lives.

Here are three of my favorite tips from Clint Eastwood for taking charge of your life.

1. Don’t use self-fulfilling prophecies to bring yourself down.

“I don’t believe in pessimism. If something doesn’t come up the way you want, forge ahead. If you think it’s going to rain, it will.”

What you think will happen often does. If you focus on and think that things will go badly you interpret things negatively and take actions – or no action at all – based on that. You can’t really see reality, you just have a perspective of it in your mind. Now, whatever you perspective you use your mind will find proof that your current “reality” is “the right one”.

So you have to be smart about things.

Like Clint says, you have to let go of pessimism and choose a perspective that empowers you instead of making you feel like a victim and like things will always turn out in a negative way.

This can be hard because you are so used to your current perspective and feel like you are right about it since you have so much proof that it was right from past events. Also, it’s not that pleasant to admit to yourself that the negative perspective that you may have held for years or decades was a mistake that messed up your life instead of making it better.

When you take charge and choose for instance a more positive perspective things around you change. Many of them may be the same things that were always there. You just see them – and yourself – in a new light now. And you can start using self-fulfilling prophecies to empower instead of disempower yourself. 2. Let go of the illusion of safety.

Why do people sit on their hands and get comfortable in their ease and quiet? Well, one big reason is because they think they are safe there. But the truth is safety is mostly a superstition. It is created in your mind to make you feel safe. But there is no safety out there really. Most things don’t come with any guarantees. Everything changes, for better or worse.

You may get layed off.
Someone may break up with you and leave.
Illness will probably strike.
Death will certainly strike in your surroundings and at some point come to visit you too.

This belief in safety is not just something negative. It’s also created by your mind so you can function in life. No point in going all paranoid about what could happen a minute from now day in and day out. But there is also not that much point in clinging to an illusion of safety. So you need to find balance where you don’t obsessed by the uncertainty but also recognize that it is there and live accordingly.

As you stop clinging to your safety life also becomes a whole lot more exciting and interesting. You are no longer as confined by an illusion and realize that you set your limits for what you can do and to a large extent create your own freedom in the world. You are no longer building walls to keep yourself safe as those walls wouldn’t protect you anyway.

3. Take responsibility for your own life.

You can look for the next big thing that will fix you. Read more blog articles. Read more personal development books. Look for people to help. And yes, some articles or books or people will give you insights that resonate deeply with you.

But in the end, if you are an adult then no one is coming. No one is coming to save you. You have to take responsibility for your own life and what happens in it. Other things and people can certainly aid you quite a bit. But you are responsible.

You can go around blaming society or some people for your problems in your life. You can always find scapegoats to judge to feel better about yourself. For a while. You can look for people that will “fix you”. You can do this for the rest of your life if you like. It won’t change much. Whatever has to be done, it’s you who have to take responsibility and do it.

Yeah, things might always not go your way and you will probably have bad luck from time to time. But you still have to focus on yourself and doing what you can do in whatever situation may arise in the outside world.

Fridays suck more than Mondays to me. I’m looking at the weekend shining ing eyes everyone is making plans and I have to stick to my plan . AHHHHH! We all make excuses, yesterday I came of with a thousand excuses cloaked as reasons not to finish an article I am writing. I found other “very important” things I needed to do . This weekend was interesting for me. I’m not saying anything spectacular happened but things definitely started turning the corner. My website traffic increased, I received a new sign up into my MLSP system and life in general seemed to open up. Finally I see something happening. I used to wonder why people thought I was so strong, working 10 hours going to dialysis and raising 2 little girls. To me I just had to do until I could do better. Now I realize the strength in that mindset. I only realize it because I lost it. I began to look at the world wishing whatever, good or bad, would happen and cast the future is stone for me. I still feel that way more than not but I have began doing along with wishing. It seems that the doing is making more of a   difference than the wishing. Go figure that crap out because I can’t. In the mean while I will keep writing these posts and “DOING” while I wait for the wish fairy to come off of hiatus.

Today’s Morning Motivation is about Focus and Distractions. We need to focus now more than ever. Why is that?

Just listen and observe. During the few minutes you spend reading this blog, your mind will probably wander to all corners of your brain, scavenging for the forgotten tasks you were supposed to do, things to pick up at the grocery store tonight, the lunch meeting you need to schedule with your business partner, the phone calls you have to return, your kid’s football game this weekend, and the list goes on.

All the while, external distractions are calling for our finite attention. Incoming text messages and phone calls. Voicemails. New e-mails demanding a response. New tweets on your Twitter feed. Facebook messages. Coworkers stopping by to ask a pressing question. Your spouse and/or kids asking for your help.

It can get so demanding you may just want to throw your hands up and say, “Argh! I just want to be left alone!!”

Short of going crazy and pulling all your hair out, there are ways to focus, in the here and now.

Yesterday was another ah hah day for me. I must say I didn’t behave well. I had some how come up with the idea that i was being singled out in a master mind group and didn’t attend the weekly meeting. In reality what was going on had nothing to do with me but all the  baggage of trying youth told me it did. I convinced myself I couldn’t make the meeting but I had been squeezing it in to the same time slot along with similar obligatory restraints.  My attituded needs, no needed, adjusting.

Good Day all ! Lets Do Something that makes us uncomfortable today. You guys may say what am I doing that is making me uncomfortable? The answer is this post! Yeah I can write and formulate a clear thought but I’m more of a laid back  till its time to act guy. These posts are far more proactive  than I’m used to. I have to remind myself constantly of my goals and not let the emotional ties to a non existent past hinder me. That brings us to today’s quote and video:

Being an Internet Marker at heart I get the question ” Can Network Marketing / MLM Be done Completely Online” asked to me often. I guess many in this business get asked the same thing with the social media ge upon us. We can order pizza, put in a pick up ticket for the cleaners and talk to Grandma face to face without ever leaving home so it seems  in-line to be able to be successful at network marketing only using the Internet.

So keep in-line with the times I must say NO ! Well no with an exception. The exception is if you are willing to learn and implement hundreds of internet marketing lead generation techniques while studying diligently all the copy writing guides and sales materials. All of which you can learn online and you can make your follow up calls via VIOP to boot. Even with the most dedicated and disciplined individuals we are still talking a 9 to 12 month learning curve.

Network Marketing is a relationship business. Its like meeting a girl online you might get her to like you a lot but meeting in person closes the deal. With all this technology we are loosing our personal skills. Network marketing is a business and asking someone to start a business with you via phone or chat just doesn’t cut it. Yes you can play the numbers game where as online you can talk to 10,000 people and come across the 3 or 4 who come aboard. Taking the same effort and doing a home show a week of only 10 to 20 people will net you 1 or 2 team members each time. These team members will feel extra confident in marketing after touching flesh with you.

Think about it which is a more pwerful statement ” My Upline Dara is a great leader I have spoken to her on the phone countless times talking strategy” or ” My upline Dara is a great leader I have spent time with her on many occasions talking strategy” ?

Get My drift? So definitely find an online system to help pull folks into your sales funnel but never forget the follow up personal call is a must always and press flesh as much as possible because thats where your money is.

I just came from the gym. I had not been there since the end of December. I was ill from the flu the beginning of January then towards the end I almost ripped the tip of my big toe off. I kept saying to myself that i was going back but I was (and you know your are sore after the flu) then injured (I bled for days – poor me). I was going back but I couldn’t get to bed on time but I had a meeting at 11 am so going to the gym at 5:30 would throw me off. Yeah but but but ! John Kenneth Galbraith has been  quoted as saying Faced with the choice between changing one’s mind and proving that there is no need to do so, almost everyone gets busy on the proof. I provided all the proof of why I couldn’t make it to the gym much like most of us provide proof to why we can’t change our eating, drinking, job or all around living situation. Well To day I proved my self wrong !!

Definition of Practice – I never thought practicing conjugating verbs would ever benefit me so it was a chore but I find the practice of self-improvement absolutely necessary. As we practice improving ourselves, our community and family those things may never be perfect but will be headed towards perfection. We shouldn’t think of practice as a chore but as choosing a direction. Practicing at our stage can be summarized as actively pursuing a goal. A doctor always has a practice,never does it change. Why when a doctor deals with human live he must continually practice improve but we don’t give the same value to our own human existence?
